PSV Eindhoven vow to find fans who treated Madrid beggars ‘like animals’

Club considers banning orders after denouncing ‘scandalous’ supporters who humiliated woman in exchange for money

One of the Netherlands’ leading football clubs says that it will consider banning orders against fans who were filmed humiliating beggars in the centre of Madrid by throwing coins at them and goading the women into doing press-ups.

Fans of PSV Eindhoven were caught on camera taunting the women and asking them to get down on their knees in exchange for money.

The footage, which also showed fans engaging in anti-immigrant chants and burning banknotes, sparked a backlash after it was published by the Spanish newspaper, El País.

PSV director Toon Gerbrands described the fans’ behaviour as “scandalous,” adding: “The actions of a few individuals are damaging the reputation of the whole group.”

A Twitter account for the club featured clips of Gerbrands, dubbed in English and Spanish, denouncing the fans’ behaviour and pledging to track them down.

“If we find them they will have some serious problems and we will consider banning orders or worse,” he said. “We will do anything to find the people who did this.”

The footage was shot on Tuesday in Madrid’s Plaza Mayor by Pablo Vande Rusten and Ignacio Camacho, students at the UAM-EL País journalism school, before PSV’s Champions League match against Atlético Madrid.

The Dutch fans also chanted: “Don’t cross the border,” at the women, according to El País.

​Boixos Nois—die rechten Ultras vom FC Barcelona

Barca—das ist Messi, ist Neymar, ist tiki, ist taka. Ist einer der größten Klubs. Dieser Verein steht für schönen Fußball, auf und neben dem Platz. Den gemeinen Fan des FC Barcelona darf man sich als kultivierten Lebemann vorstellen, der nach 90 Minuten Spektakel höchstens einen Haufen Nussschalen zwischen den Sitzschalen des altehrwürdigen Camp Nou hinterlässt.

Und nicht Hass und Gewalt.

Die „Boixos Nois”—zu deutsch: „Verrückte Jungs”—sind die dunkle Seite des amtierenden Champions-League-Siegers. Die Ultra-Gruppierung gilt als eine der gefährlichsten im spanischen Fußball, selbst wenn sie offiziell nicht mehr an der großen Barca-Party teilnehmen darf. Doch erst im März diesen Jahres fingen TV-Kameras kurz vor Beginn des Ligaspiels zwischen Barca und Rayo Vallecano Fans im Barcelona-Block ein, die stramm die Arme zum faschistischen Gruß reckten. Und in der vergangenen Saison jagten Mitglieder der „Boixos Nois” Fans von Paris St. Germain durch die Straßen, ein Franzose musste mit schweren Stichverletzungen im Krankenhaus behandelt werden.

Bukaneros: Nothing to hide, a lot to defend

Rayo’s Ultras frequently make headlines – but who are they and what do they believe in? Garreth Nunn spoke to a Bukaneros member in the first part of this exclusive interview…

Go up the metro steps, cross the street from the stadium and take a few side streets and there they are. They may be standing about 50 metres from a street called Fofo the clown but there is nobody laughing here. It is two hours before kick-off but there are already 50 or so Bukaneros standing outside their headquarters preparing for the match. Inside another 20 or so as T-shirts for today’s protest are sold whilst others get the flags ready for the game.

If the Spanish media are to be believed, and too often they are not, Spain’s Ultras are all the same. The image painted by some journalists is one of unemployed, uneducated, overweight and violent white men who just want to cause destruction. On the street outside the Bukaneros HQ, that theory is blown out of the water. The growing group is a mix of ages and races and Victor, who has agreed to be interviewed, also pours cold water on that theory.

Bei einer groß angelegten Razzia wurden kurzzeitig mehr als 200 Personen der linken Ultragruppe Bukaneros des Vereins Rayo Vallecano(Madrid), sowie umfangreiches Material beschlagnahmt.

Es ist Samstag, der 28. Februar 2015. Es ist 17 Uhr und nur noch eine halbe Stunde verbleibt bis zum Spiel von Rayo Vallecano gegen Levante aus Valencia. Die Fans von Rayo treffen sich auf der Avenida de la Albufera, trinken und reden. Im Viertel Vallecas scheint alles normal zu verlaufen. Doch von einem auf den anderen Moment Füllen sich die Straßen mit Spezialeinheiten der Polizei, sie blockieren den Verkehr und Umstellen die angrenzenden Straßen des Lokals der Bukaneros, der Ultragruppe von Rayo. Alle, die sich vor oder in dem Lokal in der Straße Dolores Folgueras befinden, werden festgenommen.

Ende letzten Jahres starb in Madrid Francisco Javier Romero. Der Anhänger der linken Ultra-Gruppe “Riazor Blues” von Deportivo La Coruña war von rechten “Frente”-Ultras von Atlético Madrid in den Tod getrieben worden. Langsam wird etwas gegen die gewaltätigen Fans getan.

How Madrid’s Fascist Ultras are Getting Away With Murder (Literally)

Francisco Javier Romero Taboada was killed in horrific circumstances on Sunday 30 November, not long after arriving in Madrid to attend an away match for his beloved Deportivo de La Coruna against La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.

Francisco Javier, known and being mourned as ‘Jimmy’, was a member of the Deportivo ultras Riazor Blues, a group which is explicitly left wing and Galician nationalist. A group of far-right Atletico Madrid ultras, Frente Atletico, awaiting the arrival of the Riazor Blues with crude weapons including knives, clubs and metal bars. The Riazor Blues were overwhelmed, and videos show the intensity of the clash that took place along the Manzanares river. It was along this river where Jimmy would be savagely beaten and then thrown six metres into the freezing water, trapped there for half an hour as rescue attempts were disrupted by the ongoing battle.

Riazor Blues: “Dies nennt man Mord”

Die Riazor Blues, Ultras von Deportivo La Coruna, deren Mitglied bei den Auseinandersetzungen in Madrid verstorben ist, melden sich erstmals zu den Vorfällen zu Wort. Diese widersprechen den Aussagen, dass sie konspirativ nach Madrid gereist sind. Den Vorfall selbst bezeichnen sie als Mord.

Mit der Pressemitteilung wollen die Ultras gegen Ungerechtigkeit kämpfen. Das Todesopfer Jimmy wurde nach Angaben der Riazor Blues mit einer Stange auf den Kopf geschlagen und anschließend in einen kalten Fluss geworfen.

Bei Ankunft des Busses der Riazor Blues sollen nach deren Angaben 250 Frente Atlético und andere rechtsgerichtete Ultras, die dazu noch bewaffnet waren, einen Angriff auf den Bus aus La Coruna gestartet haben.

Death of Jimmy Romero shows Spanish football still fighting to end fan violence

The brutal battle that preceded Deportivo de La Coruña’s match against Atlético Madrid leaves many questions unanswered

The brutal battle that ended with blood splattered across the street, a dozen injured and Jimmy Romero pulled from the Manzanares river beaten and dying began as planned early on Sunday morning. Members of the far-right Frente Atlético had gathered at 8am, four hours before their team faced Deportivo de La Coruña at the Vicente Calderón. Half an hour later buses arrived from Galicia and the occupants, members of Depor’s ultras Riazor Blues, got off and headed along the river towards the stadium, where the Frente waited. Shortly before 8.50am flares were set off and, amid the smoke, the charges began. Two hundred men ran towards each other carrying metal bars and knives.
