A Cairo court acquitted fifteen Ahly Ultras members on Tuesday over charges related to illegal protesting and assembly and attempting to storm the headquarters of Ahly club.

In late September, 19 Ultras members were arrested attempting to enter Ahly club to attend a handball match between Al-Ahly and Al-Gezira clubs.

The defendants — members of the hardcore Ahly sports club fan group — were also charged with assaulting security forces, blocking the highways and attempting to storm the headquarters of Ahly club.

Fifteen members stood trial in a misdemeanour court while four other defendants, who are minors, were referred to juvenile court on related charges.

The Ahly club made a request to security forces to stop Ultras fans from attempting to attend matches and activities without tickets, following an attack on Ahly football players during a training session in August by angry fans.
