Football fans of Egypt’s Al Ahly demonstrated on Monday in the seaport city of Suez to commemorate the 2012 Port Said massacre that left dozens dead, Egyptian daily al-Masry al-Youm reported.
In 2012, 74 people died and hundreds were injured after clashes broke out at a football match in Port Said between Cairo club al-Ahly and local club al-Masry.
In a video posted by the daily, the Ahly Ultras were seen marching through the city’s streets.
Seventy-three people are on trial for their role in the massacre, and stand accused of premeditated murder.
In 2013, an Egyptian court had confirmed the death sentences against 21 people for their role in the deadly massacre but subsequent appeals have led to a retrial.
The deadly incident caused the Egyptian Premier League’s cancellation, which did not resume until 2013 with fans subsequently banned from attending games.
